Lakka IKI pavement stones - CO2 Stored by Carbonaide

The challenge

Lakan Betoni has been actively reducing the CO2 emissions of concrete production and was looking for new ways to reduce the carbon footprint of their concrete products. The company also wanted to expand the low-carbon product portfolio to products available to consumer buyers through hardware stores.

The solution

Lakka and Carbonaide worked together to implement the Carboanide carbon dioxide curing solution to the Lakka factory in Joensuu, Finland.

The first products are now available for purchase from the Finnish hardware store K-Rauta.

Retail chain customers have started to reach out. They too are setting climate goals, which naturally extend to the products they sell. As the leading manufacturer of concrete products for hardware store distribution in Finland, this investment will significantly decrease the carbon footprint of concrete products sold to consumers.
