The construction company Joo Group wanted to achieve the highest level of LEED environmental certification, LEED Platinum, in their new residential development project within the Masalanportti planning area, in Kirkkonummi, Finland.
To reach A-rating for energy efficiency, the building was equipped with solar panels and a geothermal heating system. In addition, the outdoor paving featured carbonised concrete, a material that locks carbon dioxide directly into its structure. The pavings were delivered by Rakennusbetoni ja Elementti Oy, who used the Carbonaide CO₂ curing system to store carbon dioxide into the products. The project was completed at the end of January 2025 and was at the time the largest development to feature products manufactured with the Carbonaide technology.
